True Communication

To fully listen to someone is to truly enter into the flow. By shutting off your own internal chatter and focusing solely on what the other person is saying, you enter into a sort of meditation. I find it helpful to visualize what they are describing. If you are not listening and still have your own internal dialogue going on simultaneously, you are not in the flow of energy/communication. You are caught up in your mind and your thoughts. They are sending energy to you, but instead of absorbing what they are communicating to you and sending your energy back to them, their energy seems to hit a wall and bounces back to them. That is why you can always tell when someone is not truly listening to you, you can feel their energy is not in the flow of conversation.

If you listen and direct all your attention to what they are saying, you create a full circle.

This is where true communication can take place. It is an excellent way to train your mind to quiet down and focus, while also enriching your relationships by being completely present.

Bhagavad Gita

I recently started reading the Bhagavad Gita because it is part of the curriculum for my yoga teacher training. One passage in particular stuck out to me:

"Though I am unmanifest, fools
think that I have a form,
unaware of my higher existence,
which is permanent and supreme."

In my opinion, this is a very important quote...it is saying that God cannot be reduced to a figure, such as God, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, etc. The true god is not in anyway material, it  (not he or she) is beyond physical form. Humans have the need to know things - to know what god is and to have to assign it a figure or form that they can comprehend. The true God is everywhere and is in everything and everyone you see. The sky, the trees, the moon, a flower, a desk, a child, a lion - it is all God. You can worship God in every moment of the day by worshipping life itself. Worship God when you work, eat, make love, sleep - during all actions. This is what will bring you inner peace and constant joy. Step into the mystery of life and relax. It's ok not to know..

First time blogging

This is my first time having a blog. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a place where I can share some thoughts with the world. Who knows if anyone will ever read this blog unless I send out the link, but you never know. I know that I've been led to random people's blogs while searching for information on a subject and have always enjoyed reading other people's thoughts, tips, recipes, etc. I don't plan on having a set theme or something specific that I talk about each time I write. I may share recipes, talk about a book I recently read, or just ramble on about nothing in particular. We shall see where this blog leads me..
